Should You Get a Military Payday Loan?

Sometimes, people find themselves in financial trouble and require cash fast to take care of emergency expenses. Military personnel are no exception, and are susceptible to financial difficulties just like everyone else. For this reason, some servicemen and women end up getting what's known as a military payday loan. Whether or not you should depends on a variety of factors.

These types of loans are just like regular payday loans, but usually offer slightly more attractive rates to entice military personnel. However, these lowered rates can still be rather extravagant. If you need money fast, it's recommended that you first go through all your other options before deciding on one of these loans. There are banks, credit unions and loan companies out there that can provide loans at rates that are drastically lower than a payday loan company.

If you do decide that a payday loan is the only way you can get the money you need, then make sure you're very clear on how the loan is going to work. First, you'll need to fill out an online application that will ask you a variety of information like your personal details and income. Usually, it's required that you make at least $1,000 per month to qualify for one of these loans. How much you make will often have a bearing on how much you're able to borrow.

When your loan is approved, the funds are normally sent via electronic deposit to your checking account. Once you've got the money, what comes next? Well, usually your first payment will be required in one week and will be automatically taken out of your account. You'll need to know exactly when the funds are coming out and how much the payment will be, because the last thing you want is for the payment to be returned due to non sufficient funds.

Normally with a military payday loan, you can choose to pay the full amount on your due date or you can pay interest charges and renewal fees to extend the loan terms. Try to pay the loan off as quickly as possible, because renewing it will start a vicious cycle of high interest fees and you can end up paying three to five times the value of the loan by the time you're done. This is why any type of payday loan is somewhat of a financial risk that should be weighed carefully before a decision is made.
